The Board of Directors of the American Council on Gift Annuities acknowledges, with great appreciation, receipt of the final funding to complete the Terry L. Simmons Philanthropic Endowment Fund. This brings the funding to the goal of $150,000 and puts the Council in the position to fully fund scholarships for those attending future ACGA Conferences. We appreciate the gifts of each one who took this opportunity to honor Terry Simmons for his tireless efforts on behalf of Americas charities, in this way. You can read more about Terry and the Endowment here.
The “Simmons Fund” was created in April 2008 “to assist aspiring gift planners in their professional advancement”. Beginning in 2010 the Council has chosen several aspiring gift planners to attend the ACGA Conference as scholarship recipients of the Simmons Scholarship.
Each recipient receives their conference registration, hotel accommodations and an additional grant to their employer for incidental travel expenses. In addition, the recipients are welcomed to the conference by members of Terry Simmons family and have the opportunity to build relationships with members of the ACGA Board of Directors and other members of the profession.
The “Simmons Scholarship” is a fabulous opportunity for the serious aspiring gift planner to get a jump start on their career. We are accepting applications now for the 34th ACGA Gift Planning Conference to be held in Atlanta, GA in 2020. The speakers will begin being announced soon and you can begin making plans to meet us in Atlanta. The application for the Simmons Scholarship can be found here.
