A Word from the Chair - December 2014
Wikipedia defines value proposition as a promise of value to be delivered.
In 2010, I appointed a “Value Proposition” Task Force to assess what ACGA currently provides to its sponsoring organizations and to determine how we might better serve the charitable gift community in the future. Many good ideas have come from that work and several have been implemented.
We are currently working on a Task Force recommendation to expand resources and offer best practice standards for business, finance and administrative leaders in our sponsoring organizations. Our objective is to give institutional decision makers information and training regarding the oversight and administration of an effective gift annuity and planned giving program. Through our Board and a network of accomplished professional associates, ACGA has access to experts who are available to give seasoned counsel regarding issues related to gift administration, asset allocation, risk/reward analysis, and regulatory compliance.
In response to an increasing number of questions regarding the unbundling of CGAs, we are working on a white paper that will address the implications of unbundling and related issues, including reinsurance and self-insurance. Frank Minton is the primary author of this important and timely resource, which we plan to make available to our sponsors. We will follow the release of the white paper with an interactive webinar. Look for the distribution of the paper and an announcement of the webinar in the first quarter of 2015.
Finally, you can be sure to experience value by attending the ACGA Conference. Under the leadership of Cam Kelly, assistant vice president for Principal Gifts at Duke University, plans are under way for the 2016 Conference, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in St. Louis, April 6-8, 2016. Make plans now to be with us to be a part of “Changing Lives…Transforming Communities.”
The American Council on Gift Annuities strives to deliver value to our nearly 800 organizational sponsors, the donors you serve and the whole charitable gift community. I thank you for your continued sponsorship.
